Minimizing Impact

Protecting the environment and the sustainability of the communities where we work is an important commitment.

Using our pragmatic approach, we engage our stakeholders, including our people, customers, partners, suppliers, government and regulators as well as Indigenous communities, to determine the sustainability issues most relevant to our businesses and the communities where we operate. This includes meeting or exceeding all environmental requirements, laws and regulations affecting our facilities, operations and our people. It also means developing and implementing responsible air, water, soil and waste management controls for our operations.

Key Programs

We are constantly looking for ways to reduce and mitigate the impacts of our operations on the environment. Programs include:

Blue Circle Award

The Blue Circle Award celebrate environmental leadership across the Port of Vancouver and recognizes terminals and operators who are contributing to the ongoing efforts toward a greener, more sustainable port. Tymac Launch Service was recognized in 2025. Lynnterm and IntermodeX have also received this award.

Green Marine

Green Marine is a voluntary environmental certification program for the North American marine industry. It is a rigorous, transparent and inclusive initiative that addresses key environmental issues through its 14 performance indicators. Lynnterm, Squamish and Victoria Cruise are all certified members of Green Marine.

ISO 14001 Certification

ISO 14001 is an internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. It helps organizations improve their
environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste, gaining a competitive advantage and the trust of stakeholders. Both Lynnterm and Squamish follow ISO 14001 environmental management system.

BC Green Business

BC Green Business has been empowering businesses to raise the bar for what it means to be environmentally and socially responsible. Pacific Northwest Transportation Services is certified Green.

ISO 9001:2015 Certification

ISO9001 is a globally recognized standard for quality management. It helps organizations of all sizes and sectors improve their performance, meet customer expectations and demonstrates their commitment to quality. Both Lynnterm and Squamish are proudly certified ISO 9001:2015.
